NewQ Autonomous Organising A-Go-Go

During the month of Spetember we'll be holding a mini-festival at NewQ in the spirit of Queeruption and CampBetty. NewQ is a uiniue space, non-commercial and community focussed, the festival would be about using the space and promoting awareness that it exists!

The focus of events and workshops is on political discussion and sharing the amazing skills that people in our community have. Creativity not passive consumption.

Kate, Hexy and I have been doing some organizing via email over the weekend and there are already over 20 workshops in the works, three film nights and a gaming night. As people express interest in doing worshops to us we'll put summaries up here, but feel free to go ahead and post yourself if you are interested in holding an event or workshop, contributing to one already listed.... or if you just have some suggestions or questions. Let's get into the habbit of using the NewQ website for organizing.

- 3 film nights : locally made short films, horror film night and a queer feaure film movie marathon (fucking amal, but i'm a cheerleader, pink flamingoes etc)

- Gaming night (video games played on the wall with a projector)

- Opensource, linux and anti-corporate info tech

- Stop motion porn workshop

- Squatting skillshare

- Queers and phone sex

- Felting (like a lot of the stuff you see at M.A.D. on enmore rd)

- Dreadlocking hair - extention of felting (just with hair and a few other bits and pieces)

- Canvas construction/priming/how to paint with acrilics or oils and their differences
- Basic ceramics
- Beginners Yoga
- Patchworking/embroidery - possibly screen printing
