Agenda:
Joint Spaces Meeting report-back from Kate
Electricity bill has come in and will be dealt with next joint spaces meeting.
Photocopier: someone said they can fix it. Kate said it will cost to run, so even if it works it would not be worth having it take up space in the kitchen. Perhaps it can be stored in the joint storage space. To be discussed next joint spaces meeting.
Safer spaces policy: Meela put her hand up for making changes. It was agreed in the meeting that it would be printed out and put up ASAP.
Thunder: Kate is liaising with them about issues.
Kitchen: clarification needed on how it is being shared. Kate said she thought it is more a case of the kitchen space being part of NewQ, and us allowing other spaces to use it rather than being shared in equal parts. Angel wanted to shift some things around, and have some of the kitchen space for her burger making. Not clear what was decided.
Next joint spaces meeting 20th September.
Festival
I gave an update on ideas and organizing so far. Kat, Hexy, Grace and Will couldn't make the last collective meeting at the nunnery, so we met up on wed 1st august at newq and brainstormed. Grace thought that we could have an exhibition at the end that shows things people have produced during the hands-on workshops. Life-drawing workshop would be combined with performance night to have models in drag/kink/genderfuk. Kat suggested we make an application form for workshops/events/skillshares so we have the option of taking the forms to local small business to get funding/crosspromotion, and to help us organize our scedule. She asked if we have public liability insurance, as this can limit some things, and we don't. A summary of this and workshops people have proposed will be put up on the newq website forum, and i'll email a copy to the list.
Nick suggested running the trivia night he's written the questions for during the festival.
It was decided that since organizing is going to happen outside of collective meetings that we would keep a dialog on the forum and list, and encourage everyone to participate. We'll aim to meet up face to face to make decisions though.
To be discussed and decided on:
Housekeeping
Is Shaggy Barons running? We stuck the fliers in the top draw, and it should be removed from the website if it is not happening. It turns out the community cafe did run, Kate had thought noone opened the space.
Events that are canceled or no longer running need to have advertising taken down.
We tidied and put the donation tin in a more prominent place.
Thursday opening times are from 11am til 5pm, Anna and a few others have committed to being there to be in the space.
Signs need to be made that are more clear about making donations and that this is to cover rent. People from the Reclaim the Night meeting didn't realize they needed to make a donation, or forgot, more visible signage might have helped. This can be done on Thursday 16th by Nat and Anna.
Next Wed 15th Kate is unsure of how long the sewing circle will go, so if it goes longer than 2 hours the slyfox predrinx will just relocate to the pub or blackrose if not disruptive.
....so for future reference when events are put on they need a start and end time so later events don't clash.
Website
Needs instructions on how to deal with calendar.
Need to take down shaggy barons advertising and put up Thursday opening times and wed night slyfox alternative/pre-drinx (8pm onwards).
