Space Usage
The first discussion related to renovation, to determine the
configuration of furniture in the room, the floor was opened up to see
what events were wanting to be held here.
Kate - facilitating a HIV Outreach program, in combination with ACON
Hexy - could be combined with The Debbies (HIV sex workers outreach)
Kat - Jaffle Inn, potentially in conjuction with other events; Atheist
meetings, or Little Fish Gallery openings; the later could be done as
an act of collaboration and building interspace relationships
Jess - a youth outreach program
Kat - would be looking to do a film nights on sundays
Kate - it may be potential that Queer Screen would do some independent
screening with NewQ; it was suggested that food events could
potentially be combined with this activity, and have cushions on the
floor for a govinda's style evening.
Kata - would be interested in running Nada program workshops from the space.
Chris - still looking to run Wawen from the space.
Joe - would like to potentially run organic wholefood nights
Kate - seeking to rebuild a relationship with the atheist group
Kate - dance nights
Angelus - a campaign on friday nights
It was also acknowledged that the existing events of Queer Reader,
Games Night, Sewing Night, and Life Drawings would still run
Renovations - Projects still due

Seating Plan
It was determined that the space required flexibility of furniture and
the ultimate design that was preferenced was the two tiered seating
that was modular, allowing the space to be changed according to it's
needs.
Projector
In terms of a projector, the space does not have the resources to purchase one.
Joe is looking into an option for a projector by recycling an old device.
Angelus can book the uni project with sufficient notice (needs to confirm this).
Heather noted that friend of Rhodri's called Matt may be able to lend
us a projector in some circumstances.
There will be a Working Bee on the following dates
Tuesday Oct 7th 2:00pm
Saturday Oct 11th 2:00pm - Kate should be able to attend this one to
oversee the sorting of some of the accumulated junk in NewQ
Little Fish Liaison
Kat volunteered to be the Little Fish Liasion with Angel
Relaunch
It was proposed that we look to co-ordinate a relaunch of NewQ to
co-incide with an art display on 29th Oct being run by Little Fish.
This date is the intended deadline for all the renovations.
Speculative Projects
Chris - An Open day where all the major activities are held on the
same day for visitors to see them
Money
In undertaking the renovations, it was agrees that Kate would pay for
the rent while the space was unavailable, with the understanding that
she would be repaid from the events and activities run by the incoming
projects.
The money owed to Kate is now $310,
Money in the bank is less than $3
Rent is next due Wednesday the 8th: $180
Conceptual work
In response to the fact that a large number of new projects and new
energy is coming into the space, some discussion was held to reaffirm
that there was an existing investment in the space; emotionally,
financially and with time and labour.
While the consideration of a name change was put forth, the response
was that a name change should not just simply be because of a
revitalisation of the space, but only if the new name proposed was
clearly better than the existing one.
The revitalisation should not be seen as starting from scratch, or
rescuing the space from extinction, but as an opportunity to build
better interspace relations and to incorporate the input of the newest
contributors.
Kata then proposed that there be made a set of common organising
principles so that multiple groups can work collaboratively in the
same space, while ensuring that they respect the space's needs.
Safer Spaces Policy
In line with the Safer Spaces Policy, it has been requested by Hexy
that the other spaces be approached with sensitivity training to
ensure they are able to acknowledge the needs of mental health.
